The Dashavstar




Dashavatar means the 10 avatars of Vishnu.many people don't know about the dashavatar but today I will help you to understand them.

1. Matsya (The Fish)

When Manu (the first human in Indian mythology) was stuck in Flood transformed into fish and took Manu and all species of all animals and plants to a new world.

2. Kurma (The Tortoise)

During Sagarmanthan, mount Mandara started to sink. Vishnu took the form of a tortoise to support the mountain and made sure that churning doesn't stop.

3. Varaha (The Boar)

Once, a demon Hiranyaksha took the earth and carried it to the bottom of the cosmic ocean. Varaha defeated Hiranyaksha, carried the earth between his tusk, and restored it in the universe.

4. Narasimha (half man half lion)

Deamon Hiranyaksha elder brother Hirnayakasipu had a boon that made him indestructible. Vishnu took avatar with the body of man and head and claw of a lion and killed the demon.

5. Vamana (The Dwarf)

Deamon Bali forcefully captured the three worlds, Vishnu as a dwarf, tricked him. Vamana claimed back earth and sky by his two steps and by his there step he pushed Bali under the ground.

6.Parashurama (Warrior with an axe)

He is the first warrior saint in Hinduism, with duties between bhramin and Kshatriya. He is immortal and is believed to alive till now. He had a celestial cow Surabhi which give them anything they wanted but a king came and take it with him by force when Parashurama was not there, he came to know the kings crime and defeated him in a battle and took the cow back with him.

7.Rama (The Prince of Ayodhya)

Rama is commonly worshiped avatar and is thought of as the ideal heroic man. His story is also counted in most widely read sculptures- The Ramayana.

8. Krishna (son of Devki and Vasudeva)

In the first half, he defeated his evil maternal uncle, Kansa. in the second half, he was mentor to Pandavas in the battle of Kurukshetra.

9. Budha (the Monk)
Int is considered that Budha is also the avatar of Vishnu. He came to explain the mortal world to the humans.

10.Kalki (Destroyer of Filth)

Kalki will be the final incarnation of Vishnu, foretold to appear at the end of kali yuga. He will on top of a white horse and destroy all the evil and unrighteousness at the end of kali yuga.
